Research interest: 

Ryan Dougherty is a PhD student in Social Welfare. He received his BS in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience at the University of Michigan and Master of Social Work at UCLA. His research interests include how political and cultural contexts shape the utilization of psychiatric medications within community mental health settings, particularly among people diagnosed with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. Alongside his work at Semel, Ryan is under the mentorship of Dr. David Cohen, investigating the relationship of social workers to psychiatric medications in both practice settings and research.
